Cycle 1, 2, and 3 Observations

As the Cycle 1 phase of operation began, a variety of individual observing programs were implemented using the FOC, GHRS, FOS and WFPC-1. Cycle 1-3 scientific observations shared the interval from April 1990 to December 1993 with orbit verification activities and preparation for the first refurbishment mission. During that time several projects, which will require accumulation of several years of data, were begun. The following is a representative sample of ongoing work, organized in terms of Solar System object. Due to solar pointing constraints which do not allow observations within 57 degrees of the sun, neither Mercury nor Venus has been observed with HST. Other bodies are well represented.
